Is there any information on RF-84Fs and RF-86Fs used by RoCAF in the 50s ? I am particularly interested in RF-86F (002) force landed at Kai Tak Airport, Hong Kong on 31st January 1956. The book written by PRC commander Lin Hu claimed that the landing gears were broken during the landing, but according to the book written by Mr. Lu Wen Hau Major Li Hsing Lin made a perfect landing. I would also like to know how did the aircraft return to Taiwan, was it dissembled and shipped back to Taiwan or flown by to Taiwan ? It seems to me that the former method was used…..????
I don’t have much info on the two types of aircraft you referred to. But I happened to know that the RF-86 landed at Kai Tak Airport in one piece with no broken gear. It was later dismantled and shipped back to Taiwan in crates.
Thanks for the information, however scanty as it took place really 60 years ago. After the force landing of RF-86F (002), the PB4Y-2 (016/16) landed at Kai Tak Airport in 1958 did not have to stay long.
