上面這張拍攝日期不詳的照片取自美國海軍的「Being the Lives, Deeds and Heroic Sayings of Fleet Air Wing Seventeen and Her Sons: 15 September 1943 to 30 September 1945」,根據照片的說明,地點是台灣的恆春飛行場。
In this undated photo from Being the Lives, Deeds and Heroic Sayings of Fleet Air Wing Seventeen and Her Sons: 15 September 1943 to 30 September 1945, smoke can be seen emit from two, possibly three, Japanese aircraft. The caption says the location is Koshun (now Hengchun), Formosa. The aircraft in the front looks like a Nakajima B6N Tenzan (“Jill”) torpedo bomber, while the one next to it appears to be a Ki.27 (“Nate”) fighter. (Since I am not good at identifying WWII Japanese aircraft, I could be wrong.) But both seemed to have been damaged before this attack and were used as decoys.
It was not too difficult to pinpoint where the strafing took place at Koshun Airfield. The following cropped overhead reconnaissance photo roughly covers the same area as in the top photo.

This area was at the southern corner of the airdrome as indicated by the white rectangle in the following photo.
