I started this site as Military Aviation of ROC when I was a graduate student but I have long forgotten the exact time when I created it. Today I found in Google a message in the newsgroup rec.aviation.military, posted on January 30, 1996 by myself:
Please visit my “Military Aviation of Republic of China (Taiwan)”
homepage. The URL is
http://www.engr.wisc.edu/~wei-bin/taiwan.html
Thank you very much.
So this site is more than ten years old now.
The above URL is no longer valid. Before I left the US, I moved the site to Geocities, which was later acquired by Yahoo!. In 2003, I registered the current domain name and this site was at the same time renamed.
Should I put this post in the History category?
I think it was in later half of 1995—back when Taiwan Strait crisis was started to brewing. Before that, about 10-15 of us were keeping in touch on Taiwan military affairs and news through mailing list.
Man, that make us sounds like old men…….
I think our mailing list was AFTER my site was founded. The reason is that Ben contacted me to offer his collection of aircraft images after he saw my (poor) site.
Yap, that was long time ago…
Long, long time…
Wow! Has it been that long already?!
Back then I was single; but my daughter is eight now. BTW, it’s fun to read those newsgroup posts so many years later.
