This year’s Goodwill Fleet is composed of PFG-1203 (西寧軍艦), PFG-1109 (張騫軍艦), and AOE-530 (武夷軍艦).
安平港 might be too shallow for those ships, as seen in the past, and minesweepers might be sent instead…..
The same classes of ships made a port call to 安平港 in 2006. There should be no problem.
2007 安平港 visit, only PFG-1202 Kang Ding FFG, PGG-601 龍江, and minesweeper 1301 永豐. Reason given for AOE 530 and Cheng Kung FFG class frigate not showing up was that the port is too shallow for them.
I am afraid that the source you referred to was not well informed. The AOE was not part of the fleet that made port calls around the island in 2007. The AOE had made port call to 安平港 as early as 2004. See the news article by Military News Agency here.
