Might has to do with copyright stuff. MoND isn’t keen to IPR laws, ie all those translated stuff that it publishes. So, in a way trying to cover their collective asses(or they finally got a good lawyer), whatever it publishes couldn’t be “for sale” to the public. I think that’s the loophole MoND found when studying copyrights laws that doesn’t cover schools and government usage, as long as “not for profit”.
The other possible reason would be the 50 or 60 years secrecy agreement with US government, since 34th and 35th squadrons were US-ROC jointed covert operation that might be still classified for national security reason, in order not to reveal ways and means, or methods/operational security that might still follow to this day.

I was TDY to Hsinchu from Johnson AB in Japan from Sept to Dec 1958. I was an A/2c electrician and I am writing my memoirs. Do you have photos of the area as it was during that time? This was a special time for me. JRZ
Photos during that period are not easy to come by. I personally do not have any. May I ask which unit at Hsinchu were you associated with?
At Johnson AB In Japan I was in the 6041st Installation Squadron. Johnson sent a few supply people down there, too. We were not associated with any flying unit. I went to the map source you suggested and the west end of the runway looks a lot that it did 50 years ago. I think I can identify the old concrete bunker where the kitchen was located, but I’m not sure. There was another bunker to the north that had special services in it. It had slot machines. I assume from what I see on your site and others that what we were doing there had been declassified and we can talk about it. Is that right? I like this site. JRZ
I have sent you an email. Please check your mailbox. Thanks.
