August 14 will be the 70th anniversary of the 814 Victory (over the Japanese) for the ROCAF. Quite a few celebration activities will take place in the month of August (and early September), including four open houses:
- August 11: Sungshan AFB (It has not hosted any openhouse since…)
- August 18: CCK AFB
- August 25: Taitung AFB
- September 1: ROCAF Academy

According to today’s newspaper, the public performance at SongShan AFB is on Aug 14. Is this different from, in addition to, or instead of the open house?
I am afraid that you are mistaken. Sungshan open house on Aug 11 is to celebrate the Air Force Day, which is Aug 14. So you would see something like “814 Air Force Day” on newspapers.
No….that’s what the newspaper said. So I was not mistaken, but the newspaper may have been. It said an open house on August 14 to celebrate the 8-14 Air Force Day. You can check, go buy a China Post, look at the back page.
Since it was different from what you had announced, I was just checking.

中華民國空軍為慶祝「八一四空軍節」勝利七十周年，動員約兩千兵力、近五十架空軍各
型戰機、C-130、FK-50和B-1900運輸機、E-2K預警機、AT-3和T-34教練機、陸軍CH-47運
輸機和AH-1W攻擊直升機，將分成空中和地面戰力展示，大規模舉辦松山基地開放活動。

受颱風影響空軍松山基地營區開放順延至8月19日(星期日)實施

空軍司令部今(7)日表示，受帕布颱風影響，原訂8月11日本週六於空軍松山基地舉辦營區開放活動，將順延至8月19日(星期日)實施。
空軍司令部指出，空軍松山基地營區開放活動之空中動態及地面裝備展示均已完成各項整備，惟適逢帕布颱風進襲，為維護民眾及參與部隊安全，將順延至下週日(19日)同時段，即上午8時30分至下午4時實施。
空軍司令部強調，這是空軍主力戰機成軍以來首次進駐松山基地，開放供民眾參觀，雖然受到天候影響，必須延期，但空軍一定會實現此一「與市民有約，不見不散」的承諾。
Come to think of it, isn’t 8/19 the same day as the 2007 Taipei Aviation Show(or something like that?)???
Does the whole air shows this weekend might be postpone again, due to another typhoon coming to visit Taiwan?
Due to the 2nd typhoon coming to Taiwan, the air show in Shung Shan AB is believed to be postponed to 9/2/2007…..
