On November 11, 1965, a Chinese Il-28 bomber, piloted by 李顯斌, defected to Taiwan and landed at Taoyuan AFB. Mr. Joseph Donoghue took the above photo about one week after the defection. This could be the earliest color photo of this aircraft ever made public. The person in green fatigues on the aircraft was a ROCAF intelligence officer while the others were Americans stationed at Taoyuan at that time.

Blowup of the photo clearly shows that the nose canopy was broken. The book The Last Voodoo Pilot by Wings of China says that the nose gear was in the “Up” position when the Il-28 landed. But another witness gave a different account of what had happened than described in the book.
It does looks like the nose section is damaged, besides the broken class section in the nose. I did read about the pilot intentionally made the nose gear in up position to forced to navigator to stay in his position. But, as everyone that has some knowledge of airplanes, it’s really not possible to “selectively” choose which part of the landing gear system to be up or down. It’s all or nothing, unless some sort of malfunctions happen. And the navigator could still try to get get out via the hatch where the guy in green fatigues was.
