轟炸豐原街

昭和20年2月中 台湾空襲状況集計 アジア歴史資料センター (Via JACAR)1945年3月2日,美國陸軍飛機大舉空襲台灣各地的飛行場,第345轟炸大隊的四個中隊也全部出動,派出他們的B-25轟炸位在大雅庄的台中飛行場(也就是現在的清泉崗基地)。其中有幾架B-25攻擊了鄰近的豐原街(現在的台中市豐原區),造成帝國纖維株式會社豐原工場燒毀(如上表)。小時候我就知道豐原有菸廠,但從來沒聽說那裡有大型的紡織工廠。上網查詢才知道帝國纖維的前身是大正年間成立的台灣製麻株式會社,豐原工場就在豐原火車站東北邊一帶,當時的豐原地圖也標示了「製麻工場」:
On March 2, 1945, the US Army Air Corps launched a large-scale air raid against airdromes on Formosa. The 345th Bombardment Group on Luzon dispatched all four Squadrons to attack its assigned primary target, Toyohara Airdrome (this is the name used by the US military; actually it was confusingly referred to as Taichu Airdrome by the Japanese). Some of their B-25 bombed and strafed the nearby Toyohara Town, destroying Imperial Fiber Company’s flax mill there. The following Toyohara map, circa 1920s, marked the location of the mill (the yellow underline).目前我找到的二戰時期豐原地區空照圖只有1945年1月拍攝的(如下圖,點擊可放大),帝國纖維豐原工場就在照片正中央,看來規模相當大:

中央研究院海外歷史圖資與典藏 (Via Academia Sinica)【2014/05/24註:今天回家問初中在豐原讀書的老爸,他有印象,我媽則說他們以前都稱作布袋會社,黃麻就是做布袋的原料】跟現代的衛星照片一比,完全看不到當年留下的遺跡了:
