攻擊淡水！ Battle of Formosa: Tamsui

在目前淡水捷運站東南面的河岸邊，曾經是一座水上飛機場，旁邊則是「迺生產石油株式會社」(迺生產用台語來唸就是Rising Sun)的淡水油槽所。1944年10月12日，這裡也成為美國海軍第38特遣艦隊攻擊的目標。下圖是當天從無畏號航艦（USS Intrepid, CV-11）起飛的第18魚雷攻擊中隊（VT-18）飛機所攝，水上飛機場的位置被炸中，引發了劇烈的爆炸。照片裡比較看不清楚的，是左方的庫房也冒出了黑煙。
There used to be a seaplane base southeast of the current Tamsui MRT Station. Adjacent to the base was the oil tanks of Rising Sun Petroleum Co. They were among the targets of aircraft taking off from the aircraft carriers of Task Force 38 on October 12, 1944. The next photo was taken by an aircraft of VT-18 from USS Intrepid (CV-11). There was a huge explosion at the seaplane base. Less obvious in the photo was the black smoke streaking from the warehouse west of the base.
Source： NARA via Fold3.com下面的照片顯示在現在淡水捷運站旁的庫房被直接命中，在照片左方的水上飛機場已經完全被濃煙籠罩。第18魚雷攻擊中隊當時配備的是TBM魚雷轟炸機，從照片裡飛機左翼上的皮托管（pitot tube）也可得到驗證。
The following photo shows a direct hit on the warehouse. The seaplane base on the left was already clouded by smoke. The aircraft in the photo was a TBM Avenger, as identified by the pitot tube on the wing.

Note the damage done to the warehouse on the left-hand side of the next photo. Seaplane base facilities were burning. However, the fuel tanks appeared intact.

太驚奇了。
這些應該就是傳聞中的實境。老人家他們一定是誤傳了，可是「跑空襲」對他們而言，就是跑「B-29」。紅線抵達淡水站前的兩個「鐵橋」，一直沒有變。多少回，我們一群不知危險的野孩子在靠近河道的鐵橋上來回的嘻戲。
啊，我逝去的老家就在那裡。 -

對啊！我的長輩也是說B-29來轟炸，可是根據美軍的記錄，B-29是沒有炸過卓蘭的。
看到這些二次大戰老照片，才發現許多老東西都被拆掉，不勝惋惜！ -

B-29的確來過台灣，請在我的部落格搜索”B-29″就可以看到我寫過的幾次任務。
我還沒寫的是B-29在1945年1月轟炸台灣的部分，此後，B-29就再也沒炸過台灣。
