吳載熙在1966年2月17日的一次訓練意外中喪生，後人對他的了解多半來自於他的胞弟，但是很少觸及吳載熙所執行過的任務。他在1965年2月24日執行個人第一次U-2作戰任務，這次編號C065C的任務是從泰國的塔克里（Takhli）基地起飛，過程中雖然先後飛越了寮國和北越，主要目標還是中國的雲南。
Charlie Wu was killed in a training accident on Feb 17, 1966. Most of the stories about Charlie came from his younger brothers. But very little has been told regarding the missions he had undertaken. His first U-2 operational mission was C065C, flown out of Takhli, Thailand, on Feb 24, 1965. The target was Yunnan Province of China, although he had overflown Laos and North Vietnam along the way.
這次任務的照相情報報告可按此下載。報告提到他在昆明機場拍到了1架MiG-19和29架MiG-15/MiG-17，其中唯一的MiG-19在以下照片裡可以看到。
The Mission Coverage Index for C065C is available for download. It reported that Charlie photographed a MiG-19 and 29 MiG-15/MiG-17 at Kun-Ming Airfield. The single MiG-19 (Farmer) can be seen in the photo below.
