For three days, hundreds of sorties were flown from US Navy carriers in West Pacific to strike targets all over Formosa.  Toko (currently Donggang, Pingtung) was an important seaplane base for the Japanese military at the time and was designated Target 162 by the intelligence analysis <i>Taiwan Interim Report<\/i>, February 1944 (see above photo).  It was also among the targets that were struck during the October 1944 mission.<\/p>\n<p>\u4ee5\u4e0b\u9019\u5f35\u5075\u5bdf\u7167\u7247\u651d\u65bc1944\u5e743\u6708\uff0c\u9664\u4e86\u6771\u6e2f\u6c34\u4e0a\u98db\u6a5f\u57fa\u5730\uff0c\u4e5f\u6db5\u84cb\u4e86\u76ee\u524d\u7a31\u70ba\u5927\u9d6c\u7063\u7684\u6c34\u57df\u3002\u7167\u7247\u53ef\u6e05\u695a\u770b\u5230\u5169\u5ea7\u9577\u65b9\u5f62\u7684\u5927\u578b\u68da\u5ee0\uff0c\u70ba\u4e86\u4fbf\u65bc\u8a0e\u8ad6\uff0c\u4ee5\u4e0b\u628a\u5de6\u908a\u7684\u68da\u5ee0\u7a31\u70ba1\u865f\uff0c\u53f3\u908a\u90a3\u5ea7\u5247\u7a31\u70ba2\u865f\u3002<br \/>The reconnaissance photo below, taken in March 1944, covered the Toko lagoon (now called Dapeng Bay), as well as the seaplane base. Two large rectangular hangars by the ramp were clearly visible. The damage done to Toko Seaplane Base by Task Force 38 was clearly visible.  The saw-tooth roof of No. 1 hangar was badly damaged.
