Of course, he did not write to me.  It was part of the letter to late Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, who wrote to Bush a month earlier:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/wish_5.jpg\"><\/br><i>Madame Chiang&#8217;s signature in her letter to Bush on December 18, 1991<\/br>(All documents in this post are courtesy of George Bush Presidential Library)<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Although Madame Chiang wrote two full pages, Bush&#8217;s reply was very concise:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/wish_2.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>I also found a letter from then President Lee Teng-Hui, who wrote to then Vice President Bush to congratulate on his election as the President:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/wish_3.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>I am not sure if our Dear Regional Administrator has written to congratulate Obama on his election victory.
