ship-launched\u00a0Harpoon missile.\u00a0 Since I am not a\u00a0ship guy, I am releasing these documents to those of you who may be interested in this topic.\u00a0 Please follow the hyperlinks below for the .pdf documents:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/PSMMHarpoon_19740520.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Document 1<\/a> <strong>PSMM CO-PRODUCTION PROJECT<\/strong>, dated May 20, 1974: Tacoma Boat Company applied for export license of seven Mk 5 Patrol Ship Multi-Mission (PSMM) for Taiwan.\u00a0 State Department approved the sale of only five ships at the time.\u00a0 Taiwan requested to buy both Standard and Harpoon missiles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/PSMMHarpoon_19740529.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Document 2<\/a> <strong>PSMM CO-PRODUCTION PROJECT<\/strong>, dated May 29, 1974: Taiwan desired five Harpoon systems with four canisters each.\u00a0 US country team in Taiwan recommended approval of the sale.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/PSMMHarpoon_19740607.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Document 3<\/a> <strong>PSMM CO-PRODUCTION PROJECT<\/strong>, dated June 7, 1974: Taiwan delayed signing the contract with Tacoma Boat Company due to budgetary reasons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/PSMMHarpoon_19740822.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Document 4<\/a> <strong>ROC CHOOSES TACOMA PSSM, HARPOON MISSILE<\/strong>, dated August 22, 1974: Taiwan decided to purchase two Mk 5A ships from Tacoma Boat Company, one to be built in US and the other in Taiwan.\u00a0 Taiwan told that the Gabriel missile had not been considered.\u00a0 <font color=\"#0000ff\">[Ed: This is a lie.]<\/font>\u00a0 US country team reiterated the previous recommendation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/taiwanairpower.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/FY76-81SecurityAssistanceAssessment_19750402.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Document 5<\/a> <strong>SECURITY ASSISTANCE ASSESSMENT, FY 76-81<\/strong>, dated April 2, 1975: This is a very long document.\u00a0 See Paragraph 19B(2) for Harpoon related information.\u00a0 Taiwan has obtained clearance from US to purchase five PSMM.\u00a0 Taiwan will buy Israeli Gabriel missile or Italian Otomat missile if the Harpoon missile is not released.\u00a0 <font color=\"#0000ff\">[Ed: Taiwan later bought the Gabriel missile because USG denied the sale of Harpoon.]<\/font><\/p>\n<p>Taiwan eventually purchased only two Mk 5 PSMM.\u00a0 The one built in US is PGG601 \u9f8d\u6c5f\u865f, while the second ship, built in Taiwan, is PGG602
