But in the wake of the shoot-down of Allen Lawrence Pope&#8217;s B-26 on May 18, 1958, CIA folded its operations in Indonesia and Detachment C started packing.  On its return trip to NAS Atsugi in Japan on June 10, a U-2 flew an ELINT mission with System 5 along the China coast all the way up to Yellow Sea.  This was first mission along China coast by the U-2.
