The above photo of the small alcohol plant of Ensuiko Sugar Company by the Takao wharf was taken by US Navy aircraft on the early morning of October 12, 1944, just before the USN launched a massive air strike against Formosa. The next photo was taken five days later, when the B-29 heavy bombers of the 20th Bomb Command bombed Takao Harbor. A large hole can be seen on one of the buildings, mostly likely done by the Navy aircraft:<\/p>\n

When the Americans photoed the plant in December 1945, it looked like this:<\/p>\n

\u6230\u5f8c\u53f0\u7cd6\u9806\u7406\u6210\u7ae0\u63a5\u6536\u9019\u5ea7\u5de5\u5834\uff0c\u5f8c\u4f86\u6539\u70ba\u5009\u5eab\uff0c\u5728\u9019\u5f351959\u5e74\u7684\u7a7a\u7167\u4e2d\uff0c\u9019\u500b\u5730\u5340\u5df2\u7d93\u5168\u90e8\u6539\u5efa\uff1a
After the war, this plant was confiscated by the government and the state-owned Taiwan Sugar Corporation (“Taisugar”) used this site to build its warehouses, as seen in the next 1959 photo:<\/p>\n
