Bombers of the 14th Air Force first bombed the Nippon Aluminum Company’s Takao Plant in January 1944 during a night mission but the damage was unobserved. The US Navy bombed the plant for the first time on October 12, 1944, during the Battle of Formosa. Production was not affected. During the first daylight bombing against Formosa, the 5th Air Force bombed the plant, damaging its No. 1 Electrolyte Plant. Production halted for a short time as a result. The following postwar photo reveals the damage to the No. 1 Electrolyte Plant.<\/p>\n
