高雄港入口的老照片

Google Earth 2012以上兩張高雄港入口正上方的照片分別攝於1944年和2012年，入口的左側（地理上的北面）是鼓山的哨船頭，右側是旗津半島的旗后山。戒嚴時期的台灣，港口和機場、鐵路一樣都是禁止攝影的，所以不容易看到這個地區的平面攝影相片。幸好當時造訪高雄港的美國水兵在入港時拍了不少照片，為後人留下了珍貴的影像。以下就是我在美國海軍的Cruise Book上找到的相關照片。
The above two overhead photos of Kaohsiung (Takao) harbor entrance were taken in 1944 and 2012, respectively, covering Shaochuantou (meaning patrol boat port) on the left (corresponding to the North) and Mountain Qihou on the right. While the martial law was still in effect on Taiwan, taking photos of harbors, as well as airports and railroads, were strictly prohibited. Consequently, few pictures of Kaohsiung harbor from that era can be found here in Taiwan. Fortunately, US Navy sailors took quite a few photos when their ships made port calls to Kaohsiung before the United States severed its diplomatic ties with Taiwan. The following are photos of Kaohsiung harbor entrance that I found in the US Navy Cruise Books.如果在1961年從外海進入高雄港，入港前看到的就是以下的樣子：

USS O’brien (DD-725) 1965日治時期在哨船頭頂端的岩石上建立了信號所，後來也有測量氣象的測候所。在美國水兵拍攝的照片中，都把它稱為Signal Tower。以下五張照片是美國水兵在不同時期拍攝的：
The Japanese built a signal tower and later a weather station on top of the rock of Shaochuantou when they ruled Taiwan. The next five photos were taken on different times:

USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37) 1974美國水兵為旗后山這一帶拍攝的照片似乎較少，我能找比較清楚的就只有以下兩張。第一張是靠旗后燈塔那一頭：
I could only find two photos of Qihou Mountain in the Navy Cruise Books. The first one shows the Qihou lighthouse in 1960.
USS Pollux (AKS-4) 1960第二張是靠近漁業電台和旗后砲台的部分。在照片右上方所看到的旗后砲台，跟現在的樣子有很大的差異：
The next one cover the area near the fisherman radio station and the remains of Qihou gun emplacement in 1967. The gun emplacement on the upper right of the photo looked quite different from its current state.

我猜最後兩張都是從旗津的外海拍攝的，如果從現在的旗津海濱公園，經由隧道、穿過這石灰岩的「山」，往左邊望去便是最後一張的景緻。隧道有微弱照明，只允許步行通過，不過絕大多數的單車騎士都沒來得及下馬。最後第二張現在是旗津踩風腳踏車道的一部份，可以說是起點，從左邊繞過去「山」的後面，除了「歡迎蒞臨高雄港」的牌樓，還可以遠眺西子灣、清朝時期英國領事 Robert Swinhoe (FRS) 寓所、中山大學。
不過，其實我看不出來旗后砲台的差異，因為大部份都還在，也許我的硬碟有壞軌。
