王政文在1965年10月22日的一次訓練飛行任務中失事殉職，後人也因此少有機會了解他執行過的六次任務。他在1964年12月9日執行個人第一次U-2任務，編號C324C，目標區是中國東北。從航跡圖來看，他很有可能是從韓國群山基地起飛的。
Pete Wang was killed on October 22, 1965, when the U-2 he piloted crashed into sea on a training mission. Little, if any, has been written about the six operational missions he had flown. Pete flew his first operational mission on December 9, 1964. The primary target of Mission C324C was Manchuria (Northeast China). This mission might have originated from Kunsan, Korea.
