再談RF-101
最近這幾天陸續跟一些美軍退役RF-101飛行員聯絡上,他們有的曾經訓練過我國的RF-101飛行員,有的駕駛RF-101來台訪問過,有的還在桃園基地待了兩年。雖然他們都無法證實我國是否曾經使用RF-101C,卻指出A型和C型的確可以從垂直尾翼上的小進氣口來判別:RF-101A在使用後燃器時有五分鐘的時間限制;RF-101C多了這個用來冷卻阻力傘艙的進氣口,這個限制就取消了。 桃園航空科學館展示的RF-101(機號待考證)的垂直尾翼有進氣口 岡山軍史館館展示的RF-101(機號待考證)的垂直尾翼也有進氣口 (Photo by Jason Tu) 儘管上面這兩架飛機都跟C型一樣有進氣口,其中一位飛行員卻認為它們不夠往前突出,所以可能是事後改裝的,而不是原廠的RF-101C。由於我沒有正牌RF-101C垂直尾翼的特寫照片,因此無法作比較,留待以後有機會拍到再說。 另一位曾經在1964年駕駛RF-101C訪問桃園的飛行員在看照片時發現,A型的後燃器段似乎比C型的長了一些。我上網找了一些照片來比較,結果發現真是如此: RF-101A Block 25 54-1502 (Photo by USAF) RF-101A Block 35 56-158 (Photo by USAF) RF-101C Block 70 56-097 RF-101C Block 55 56-217 我還問了一些其他的問題,如果他們有回覆,我會在整理後刊登在此。
