    處決名單中的Freddy McCreary全名其實是Frederick E. McCreary,原本隸屬於美國海軍第38特遣艦隊無畏號航艦(USS Intrepid, CV-11)第18轟炸中隊(VB-18),擔任SB2C俯衝轟炸機的無線電通信手兼尾砲手。在1944年10月12日福爾摩沙之役的第一天,他搭乘John Thvedt中尉駕駛的54號SB2C(序號19234),於上午0820與另外11架SB2C起飛前往台灣北部執行轟炸任務。他的SB2C在攻擊松山飛行場時被擊中,McCreavy先行跳傘逃生,在飛行場北側被日軍俘虜。
    The full name for Freddy McCreary was Frederick E. McCreary. He was a radio operator/tail gunner of SB2C Helldiver in VB-18 on USS Intrepid (CV-11). On October 12, 1944, he took off in SB2C No. 54 (BuNo 19234), piloted by Lt. John Thvedt, along with other 11 SB2C for a strike mission over northern Formosa. His plane was hit over Matsuyama (Sungshan) Airdrome in Taihoku (Taipei). McCreary bailed out and then was captured on north side of the airfield.

    日軍隨即進行審訊,以下即是台灣軍司令部製作McCreary訊問書的一部份。內容顯示他提供的姓名就是McCreavy, Freddy(マックレイ フェディ),來自肯塔基州(Kentucky),年僅23歲。
    McCreary was then interrogated by the Japanese Army. The following interrogation report produced by Formosa Army Command showed that he used the name Freddy McCreary. Originally from Kentucky, he was only 23.

    跟McCreavy一起執行任務的Thvedt並沒有立即棄機跳傘,而是把飛機飛到第38特遣艦隊附近才跳傘逃生,後來被驅逐艦USS Yarnall(DD-541)救起。以下是DD-541對救援過程的敘述:
    Lt. Thvedt did not bail out immediately but flew the crippled aircraft back to Task Force 38. He was rescued by USS Yarnall (DD-541) after parachuting from the plane. The following text filed by USS Yarnall described the rescue:
